For Christ

1 Aug 2009

Who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works. Titus 2:14

Paul says we were redeemed and purified for Christ. We need to understand that Jesus is the central focus of the entire creation of God. All things were created through Him and for Him. “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him” (Col. 1:16).

After Jesus’ resurrection, He expanded the disciples’ understanding concerning the Scripture. He said, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me” (Luke 24:44). Jesus was showing the disciples that the Old Testament Scripture was written about Him!

Ephesians 4:11-16 reveals to us that God’s ultimate purpose is for all believers to come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of Jesus Christ that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, becoming more and more like Christ in every way! Jesus Himself gave apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers to the church to equip the saints to do His work and build up His body. So that under His direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly, allowing each part to do its own special work, therefore causing His body to be fully developed and mature.

What can we conclude?

(1) All of creation was for Christ.

(2) The law of God pointed to Christ.

(3) The Prophets prophesied about Christ.

(4) The Old Testament was written about Christ.

(5) The Church was redeemed for Christ. So it is not about you, it is about Him! Put away self-centeredness and put on Christcenteredness. In 2 Corinthians 5:15, Paul says, “And He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.” Herein lies the key on how we should live, how we should pray and how we can get our prayers answered. Remember it’s for Christ! If you want answered prayers, ask God for things that will glorify Christ! Ask Him for things that will accomplish Jesus’ cause here on the earth. What are you praying for today? Are you seeking to accomplish Christ’s purpose in everything that you do? Jesus says, “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you” (John 15:7).

Jesus definitely can escape from the cross if he wanted to but he chose to be on the cross to redeem our evil heart.

    Hi Pastor.

The words “All things were created through Him and for Him”. Is satan created by god? Why?

    Please and thank your advice.

    Hi Pastor,

I really enjoy reading this article. But I have a doubt, Is the world functioning “theocentric” or “christocentric.” Is God functions only through Jesus, in this world? Is Holy Spirit slightly inferior to Jesus?

I just got this doubt while reading this. Please give me the answer.
    I really admire your charisma!!!!!!!!

    thanks
