Don’t Be Disqualified

3 Oct 2009

“He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.” Revelation 21:7

In Revelation 21, we are introduced to the heavenly Jerusalem. The purpose of the New Jerusalem is to be a habitation for the Lord; a place for God to dwell with His people. All the promises of God are reserved for those who overcome. Therefore, by the grace of God, we must cry out for grace to have victory over the flesh, the world and the devil. The Lord says to the overcomers that He will be their God and they shall be sons (21:7). “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death” (21:8). Who are those who will be disqualified from the New Jerusalem?

(1) The cowardly: those who consider God to be unworthy of their trust. They refuse to exercise faith in Him, but would rather lean on their own talents and abilities. They are ashamed of Jesus and are afraid of what family and friends would think of them being identifi ed with Christ.

(2) The unbelieving: those who doubt what God has said. They refuse to believe His promises and His Word.

(3) The abominable: Those who are unclean. Titus 1:16 talks of them who “profess to know God, but in works they deny Him, being abominable, disobedient, and disqualified for every good work.”

(4) Murderers: those who break the sixth commandment by committing murder. This includes those who hate others in their hearts (Matt. 5:21-22).

(5) Sexually immoral: those who habitually commit all kinds of sexual impurities outside the holy bounds of marriage.

(6) Sorcerers: those who practice and condone witchcraft in whatever form.

(7) Idolaters: those who worship people and other objects of affection rather than God.

(8) Liars: those who don’t love or speak the truth. While one might summarily dismiss these groups of people as those who are non- Christian, a careful study shows that they are those who are in the Church. Remember the solemn warning of Paul to the Christians in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11: “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you.” Let us walk in true liberty and not be entangled by the works of the flesh.

    Pastor

21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: 22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, [1] shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire.

Thou shalt not kill,is not murder.Read it carefully.

    Pastor – I am confused.

I know my wife since 20 years old. I was not Christian then. She was.

She walked with me and at the age of 36, I was baptised. Hallelujah.

In your unwholesome shallowness blog – , there was a voice clip of you speaking in Sweden.

It talked of being unevenly yoke.

How another pastor was ministering to a lady Christian and how she could lay hands on his pillow and make hopefully make him holy.

If she had done that, I find that an act of love, and distilled to its essence, is that not what Jesus and love is all about? To pray for an unbelieving spouse. This is what Esther probably did in the old testament.

Your supporters have ‘defended you’ by talking about how you were defending Paul’s idea of cheap grace, but it still does not explain how you dissed another pastor of ministering to a poor lady who is unevenly yoked. You probably got carried away and said something about that poor lady and is regretting it but I am still not sure if you are a man who intellectualise everything and have no public regrets?.

My question – do you have any regrets in that particular part of the sermon?? (No, I am not a member of the other Pastor church – to clarify matter)

What are your views of your church members marrying a non believer?

What would you have advised that lady who came to you with a non believing husband?

I have spoken my mind. I trust you will speak yours and help me in this journey of Christ.

Thanks Pastor. I look forward to your response on this.

    Hi all,

I am Christian. Sometimes i have all these attributes: cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars.
Does that verse refer to the believer or the unbeliever? I am sure that most believer have those kind of attributes in their lives..

Sometimes when challenges come, we often doubt God promises.. or when temptation come, we often fall into unholy deeds (because we are not prefect human beings).. does that mean that we are not qualified for the New Jerusalem ? :)

Dear Pastor,I am very clear about of Rev21:7.I well known these sinful flesh, because sometimes i have a sin as a cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and so and so directly or indirectly which is unrighteous life in me,that why i will not inherit the kingdom of God.But I believe in Jesus , I confess all of my weakness and my sin to God.By the grace of God, i will cry out for grace to have victory over the flesh.I surrender my live to God and the power of Holy spirit will lead me and guide me in any situation of my choice. Therefore I will overcome all of my flesh and temptation by the power of God and saviour.
    with highest respect
